With so many products on the market what ones do you buy and what is the difference?

There are 2 main types of lubes: Water-based and Silicone Lube.

Water-based lubes are the popular. Traditionally these lubricants are recommended with condoms and won’t harm rubber or silicon sex toys. The main complaints with these lubes are they dry up too quickly and some times feel a bit sticky. The reason they dry up is because your body absorbs water. Re application may be needed during foreplay or intercourse.

If you are prone to getting yeast infection you may want to be careful when using these water-based products. Some of them contain Glycerin- glycerin is a kind of sugar… which can cause microbe growth and upset the pH of the vagina. Look for sugar-free flavored lubes, or Glycerin free and you should be fine. Silicone Based Lubricants are great for any type of foreplay, sex play, also don’t forget about using it for great massages. Some lubes are very thin to extremely thick like jelly. Usually the thicker lubes are easier for anal play or with sex toys; this keeps the toys in place a bit better. While the thinner lubes are usually used to enhance your personal lubrication and it doesn’t feel like you are using lubrication.
